VirtualDub is a terrific pre- and post-processor that works as a valuable
companion to any video editor:
- Reads and writes AVI2 (Open DML) and multi-segment AVI clips.
- Integrated MPEG-1 and Motion-JPEG decoders.
- Remove and replace audio tracks without touching the video.
- Extensive video filter set, including blur, sharpen, emboss, smooth, 3x3
convolution, flip, resize rotate, brightness/contrast, levels, deinterlace,
and threshold.
- Bilinear and bicubic re-sampling -- no blocky resizes or rotates here.
- Decompress and recompress both audio and video.
- Remove segments of a video clip and save the rest, without recompressing.
- Adjust frame rate, decimate frames, and 3:2 pull-down removal.
- Preview the results, with live audio.

How to re-key a movie that you can't edit

To re-key a movie file with missing or corrupt key frames follow the below
steps.
When you open your source file check the box that says "Popup extended open
options".

Then check the box that says "Re-derive keyframe flags" and click the OK
button.

A window will appear to show the re-keying process.

Then the full window will open.

Save the file to a new name using your compression preferences.
* Although VirtualDub is open source, the files on this site have not been modified by Fx, Sound and Magic in any
way and are hosted here as a service to our customers and to Avery Lee, the author of
VirtualDub, who has been very helpful over the years.
